Internet Usage Policy


 

 

  1. The user in whose name an electronic services account is issued is responsible for its proper use at all times. The user shall keep personal account numbers, home addresses, and telephone numbers private. The user shall use the electronic information services only under their assigned account number unless given permission by the teacher.
     
  2. The District’s electronic information services shall be used only for purposes related to education. Commercial, political and/ or personal use of the District’s services is strictly prohibited.
     
  3. The user shall not use the District’s electronic information services to encourage the use of drugs, alcohol or tobacco, nor shall they promote unethical practices or any activity prohibited by law or District policy.
     
  4. The user shall not transmit material that is threatening, obscene, disruptive, or sexually explicit, or that could be construed as harassment or disparagement of others based on their race, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion or political beliefs.
     
  5. The user will use language that is appropriate in the educational environment.
     
  6. The user will not use the electronic information services to plagiarize another’s work. Credit is to be given to the person(s) that created the article or idea.
     
  7. Copyrighted materials may not be placed on the electronic information services without the author’s permission. The user may download copyrighted material for his or her use only.
     
  8. Users will not vandalize computer resources or the electronic information services in any form. Vandalism includes uploading, downloading, or creating computer viruses and/ or any malicious attempt to harm or destroy District equipment, electronic information services or the data of another user.
     
  9. The user shall not read other users’ mail or files without permission. They shall not attempt to interfere with other’s ability to send or receive electronic mail, nor shall they attempt to delete, copy, modify or forge other users’ mail or files.
     
  10. Violation of these rules and regulations may result in loss of access or other disciplinary action deemed appropriate for the violation. The District reserves the right to monitor computer and/or electronic information services activity in any form seen fit to maintain the integrity of the computer equipment, the District’s network services and/or Internet web site.
