Mrs. Thompson-6th Grade Language Arts and Social StudiesMrs. Thompson was born in San Francisco and raised in Long Beach, California. She started college in 1965 and finished her Bachelors Degree in Social Work in 1975 at SDSU. She became a therapist and continued as a counselor until 1996. She is the daughter of a ‘homesteader’ so started visiting the desert in 1955. In 1989, Mrs. Thompson, with her husband and three children, left the coast and moved into a small ranch in West End Yucca Valley with llamas, goats, chickens, dogs and all the wild life that wanders in from the Joshua Tree National Park. She moved down to the Valley in 2005. Mrs. Thompson received a teaching credential and Masters degree from Chapman University and began teaching for Palm Springs Unified in mid-1997. She has taught first, second, fourth, fifth grades and is now thrilled to be teaching 6th grade at James Workman. She loves Language Arts and Social Studies and everything about teaching. Mrs. Thompson has a difficult time sitting quietly, and is thankful her students understand. She hopes everyone can find his/her best learning strengths in her classes. What are her hobbies? Her interests are most anything we can find ‘...from the desert to the sea’. Three grown children and grandchildren are still the center of her life but teaching is a strong second !! |
