Mrs. Peltier

My name is Peggy Peltier. I was born in Lafayette, Indiana. My family moved when I was 3 years old to Michigan where I grew up. I left for the west coast at the age of 21 and completed college at UC Davis in 1977 with a B.A. in P.E. Next I moved to Bakersfield where I married my first husband and we had our first child, Monica. Job changes found our small family moving to the desert in 1981. My second child, Lisa was born in 1983. After my divorce in 1986, I went back to school at National University to earn my teaching credential. In 1993 I was hired as a P. E. teacher at Nellie Coffman. When Workman Middle School opened, I transferred here to teach. My second marriage, to a frenchman, a technician for Xerox, took place in 1996. I went back to school one more time in 2001 to get my Masters Degree in Middle School curriculum. I have always and enjoyed working with children.

Mr. Coleman

I was born in Portland, Oregon a few years ago, raised in the football town of McMinnville, Oregon. When I was 18, I attended Oregon College of Education on a football schlarship. After a year or so, I quit school to travel the world and have some fun before they drafted me into the Vietnam War.

In 1974, I left Switzerland, where I had been living and went to Alaska to work on the TransAlaskan Pipeline. I spent the next 18 years working 6 months on and 6 months off for different oil companies. It gave me a great opportunity for traveling and living where I liked during my time off.

In 1992, I quit the oil field business and went back to school to become a teacher and a coach, a lifelong dream of mine. I chose Northern Illinois University in Chicago to live at. After completing my college degree in 1996, I taught one year in a suburb of Chicago, then was offered a job at Palm Springs Unified School District, where I have been teaching at the elementary level for the last 6 years.

My passion is to travel--I have been to Africa, Mexico, Jamaica, Europe, and Cuba. I’m planning a trip to Hong Kong soon. Other than that, I am just a normal guy.

Mrs. Ellis

I grew up in Porterville, CA. I moved to northern California after high school where I attended Chico State University, and received my B.A. in Physical Education. After I graduated I took a "temporary” job that lasted 7 years managing a retail store. In 1994 I decided to go back to school to obtain my teaching credential. In 2001 I obtained my Masters in Education. I have worked at James Workman for 3 years and prior to that I worked at D.S.M.S. for 4 years. I enjoy snow skiing and riding my horses. I am an active member of the San Bernardino County Sheriff Mountain Search and Rescue Unit. I own and operate a horse back riding facility in Morongo Valley.

Mr. Hershberger

My name is Eric Hershberger. I was born on August 29, 1973 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I have two younger twin sisters, a wife named Courtney, and I just had three sons, two of which are twins. I can predict for my son, Ty, that he will play lots of golf. I also have a pet dog Lab named Cali. I received my masters degree in Cal State San Bernardino. Some of my favorite things to do when I’m not teaching are mountain biking, rock climbing, golfing and hunting.

Mr. Sanchez

My name is Phil Sanchez. I was born on August 9, 1977 in Denver, Colorado. I have two older brothers, older sister, my wife’s Nicole and a dog named Rosco. I wrestled for 4 years at the University of Northern Colorado, I also wrestled for a bit at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. After graduated from U.N.C I lived in the Basque country, Donosti-San Sebastian, Spain for a year and then moved to Palm Springs. I have been teaching P.E. for 9 years all in elementary school. Some of my favorite things to do when I’m not teaching are reading, traveling, rock climbing, bouldering, hiking, watching MMA, coaching youth wrestling and learning foreign languages.

Mr. Mills

I am Mr. Mills.  A lifelong resident of California, I attended Cal Poly University and Azusa Pacific University before moving to the desert in 1989.  I have been teaching middle school PE for eighteen years in this district.  I also coach baseball at Palm Springs High School.  I am married with two sons (14 and 12).  Teaching at James Workman has been my dream job.  I enjoy working with both the staff and students at Workman very much.
