Guitar Club

Every Monday during the lunches students who wish to learn how to play the guitar bring their lunch to the Counseling Center for an informal lesson on one of the school’s 22 student guitars. A banjo, a ukulele, an electric bass, a lap steel guitar, a violin, a mandolin, a cello, an electric guitar and a keyboard are also among the other instruments that the “Desert Hot Strings” are allowed to experiment with. Every other Friday the pupils practice and play their instruments as well. Several of the Counseling Center’s computers are loaded with an interactive “Teach Yourself Guitar” program as well as internet access for the more advanced students to look up favorite song lyrics, chords and tablature. We also have a Mac Mini computer with iTunes and Garage band software making the Counseling Center a virtual recording studio!
