Grew up in North Hollywood, Graduated from PSHS (a thousand years ago) Baseball scholarship to CSULB, drafted by Milwaukee Brewers, B.S. Degree in Law Enforcement, Reserve cop on Westminster P.D. Worked in the music biz for 10 years as a roadie for the big bands of the 80's, a writer of a nationally syndicated show and a as an on air personality for 7 years. (Radio name, Scott Shannon) Owned my own business for 18 years and gave it all up for this. Best thing I ever did besides marry my wife of 21 years. 2 kids at home and 120 here. What a life.

I, Mr. Demitrious C. Sinor, grew up in San Bernardino, California. I graduated from Flagstaff Arizona’s Northern Arizona University with a teaching degree in secondary social science after being inspired to “change the world” by the legendary professor, writer, and motivational speaker Dr. Ronda Beaman. I moved to Palm Springs, California after being convinced by the Desert Hot Springs High founder and first principal Dan Kenley, that this is the best place to teach.
I am proud to say I have remained a member of the Golden Eagle staff ever since. Initially, I taught the first ever Special Day Life Skills class. Since, I have remained a member of the Social Science Department. My teaching experience includes CP and Honors World History, Computer Literacy, and United States History over the last several years. Currently, I am teaching United States History as well as Advanced Placement Government & Honors Economics.
Additionally, I have served as Chair of the DHSHS School Site Council (2006-07). I train beginning and new teachers to DHS on “Block Schedule Strategies & Classroom Management,” and I have given a number of faculty and staff presentations and in-services. I am also a member of the Design Task Force Committee—which is collaborating on strategies to increase student achievement and build strong relationships among the student body, faculty and staff. Last year, I co-wrote the Quality Education Initiative Act (QEIA) with the administration.
Fortunately I have been honored as a Teacher of the Year finalist from 2004-2007, was named DHSHS and PSUSD Teacher of the Year for the 2006-07 year, was a 2007 Golden Apple Award recipient, and I have been published in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers over the past three years. In 2005 I was named 100.5 FM “Teacher of the Week” and in 2004-05 was a “Top Five Flying Eagle” recipient.
My belief as an educator is that passion, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude are contagious attributes. I am amongst the most fortunate of all professionals in that I get to interact with more than one hundred students each day. Not only do I push my students to work hard, think for themselves, and achieve at high levels, my students in return, demand this of me. I, after all, am merely an advanced learner—experiencing the educational process along side them each day.
My hobbies include, announcing Varsity and JV football, basketball, powderpuff and track & field here at DHS. I have gone skydiving twice and have been known on occasion to dance, rap and sing. I also enjoy writing sports & entertainment commentary, philosophy, and poetry. I also have a twin brother and an older sister.
I like to remind my students, as the greatest of all philosophers Plato has written-- to break the chains of ignorance and seek—do not fear—the light of knowledge. Escape the cave of repression—seek truth and justice. Then return to the cave and enlighten the others with your newly found wisdom. Set them free from control and equip them with the ability to positively change the world, one individual mind and spirit at a time.
